Job description
- Prepare lesson plans and activities, deliver effective ELD instruction for students in grades K-5.
- Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language development.
- Knowledge of the most current research and practice regarding curriculum and methodologies related to the instruction of English Learners.
- Ability to co-teach, design ELD interventions, and build positive relationships with colleagues.
- Participate in and contribute to professional learning communities.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students’ progress, including state standardized assessments.
- Communication with students, families and colleagues concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and sensitivity to the dynamics of students' cultural background.
- Ability to identify English Learners and maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations in a timely and confidential manner.
- Demonstrates ability to engage in two unique school settings including communicating with administration and teacher colleagues.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills in English and the ability to utilize technology for communication.
- Demonstrates ability to speak, understand, read an write in langueages other than English (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Teaching License.
- Hold appropriate endorsement(s).
- Successful completion of student teaching assignment.
- Previous teaching experience in subject area and/or level desirable.
- Human relations skills
- Knowledgeable about classroom practice in order to successfully facilitate the learning environment, manage time, communications, and record keeping
- Ability to remain current in curricular area and in instructional practices
- Knowledgeable about student electronic database and grading software
- Knowledgeable about using technology to support instruction and enhance student learning
