The Kino Border Initiative is a bi-national, inclusive Catholic organization, inspired by the spirituality of the Jesuits and Missionaries of the Eucharist; locally rooted in Ambos Nogales on the Mexico – US border and with a regional approach throughout Central America and North America.

Purpose of Position
The Education Coordinator supports the Director of Education and Advocacy and the Associate Director for Education and Advocacy in implementing the educational programs offered by the KBI in a way attentive to both Catholic Social Teaching and the contemporary realities of border and migration policies.
Duties and Responsibilities/

The Education Coordinator will work primarily in the following areas:
Immersion group accompaniment 50%
- Host individuals and groups for multi-day, one day or half-day visits to the Kino Border Initiative and explain its work and the context of migration.
Immersion logistics and planning
40%
- Coordinate logistics for scheduled immersion groups.
- Assist in editing and updating presentations on the Kino Border Initiative, Catholic Social Teaching, and border and immigration. Deliver said presentations to visiting groups.
- Engage in ongoing research of current migration trends to assist in updating pre-trip readings and other materials.
Generate education content
– 10%
- Contribute content to the KBI social media platforms, under the supervision of the Director of Communications.
Knowledge, Abilities and Personal Characteristics/
Conocimiento, Habilidades, y Características Personales
- Experience in education and with immersion or service groups preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish. / Excelente habilidad para comunicarse de manera oral y por escrito en inglés y español.
- Physically mobile and able to walk at a vigorous pace for at least 3 miles in harsh desert conditions and stand for long periods of time.
- Experience in the use of databases and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google, as well as other relevant software.
- Familiarity with the US/Mexico border region, contemporary migration issues and trends, and US/Mexico immigration policy preferred.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with good interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of the KBI.
- Must possess valid passport and visa if applicable, that enables individual to move easily across the U.S./Mexico border

Bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies, education, peace and justice studies, law, religious studies, or equivalent discipline
