Job description
- Conduct Early Childhood screenings:
- Perform basic vision and hearing tests on children ages 3-5.
- Perform developmental screening assessments on children ages 3-5 using standardized instruments.
- Review immunization status.
- Conduct Early Childhood screening exit interviews:
- Effectively communicate screening results with parents/guardians and make appropriate referrals if needed.
- Assist parents/guardians with other educational concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and their families.
- Provide families with additional health and school related resources.
- Support Early Childhood Screening processes and procedures:
- Maintain accurate records for each screening appointment, complete all data entry and documentation requirements.
- Track screening data & follow up on referrals.
- Enter/scan screening results and all other record-keeping duties.
- Collaborate with Early Learning staff.
- Provide Early Learning classroom support as directed.
- Attend required staff development and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Applicant must hold a professional license.
- Exhibits excellent communication and relational skills.
- Culturally responsive to different racial groups in the community as well as disability awareness and gender equity.
- Successful minimum three years of experience working with children ages 0-5 in an educational setting, a child development, or pediatric setting.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, early learning staff and district personnel.
- Evidence of organization, self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving and flexibility.
- Physical stamina to complete tasks and work with small children (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers). This includes the ability to:
- lift up to 30 lbs;
- lift and carry infants, toddlers, and preschoolers;
- get up and down from the floor to work with small children; and
- move quickly across a room to respond to the needs of small children.
- Experience in an early childhood screening program with knowledge of various services and supports for families with young children preferred.
- Experience working with multilingual families and/or bilingual.
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Screening laws and assessments.
