Your Purpose: The Coordinator will assist the Center Director by assuring the delivery of a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate and cultural relevant program within the guidelines of Building Blocks Child Care Center?s mission, policies, procedures, and performance standards which include the standards of Early Achievers quality standards and DCYF licensing guidelines.
Duties
What this Role Entails (Duties):
- Deliver quality enrichment programs for children using our Emergent Curriculum approach.
- Plan and deliver parent and community engagement opportunities, including managing our partnership with Bishop Place Senior Living.
- Develop and coach a team who are passionate about providing a safe, fun, engaging and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Work closely with the Director and administrative team to enhance the instructional experience.
- Oversee classroom and playground health and safety.
- Oversee and maintain classroom supplies and materials, including maintaining organization of the supply room and outside storage areas.
- Manage and maintain classroom children?s files (assessments, informal and formal observations, supporting documentation).
- Oversee and provide feedback about lesson plans.
- Schedule classroom observations at least monthly (or more if necessary).
- Manage and maintain safety standards including supervision and program paperwork
- Assist with monitoring compliance with program contracts, performance standards NAC (National Accreditation Commission) requirements, and Licensing and Early Achievers Guidelines with a focus on facilities, health, safety and nutrition components.
- Ensure compliance with Health Policy, Disaster Plan and inspection requirements (smoke alarms, fire extinguisher, Pullman Fire Department).
- Plan and conduct monthly fire drills, quarterly earthquake drills and bi-annual lockdown drills.
- Monitor fire and earthquake drills, first aid and disaster supplies.
- Ensure hand washing protocol is followed.
- Support the maintenance of class ratios as per licensing guidelines; step in to classroom if necessary.
- Ensure medication management procedure is followed (ex. Allergy/asthma care plan, medication administration, renew expired medication etc.).
- Provide computer technical support to ECE Staff.
- Attending program and agency staff meetings and trainings.
- Ensure professionalism and high program quality.
- Foster teamwork and cooperation among staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of all participants? files.
- Other related duties as assigned by the ECE Program Specialist and Director.
Requirements
THE RIGHT FIT FOR THIS ROLE:
- Prior experience supervising others
- Associate degree in early childhood education or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs
- Coursework or training in child development and/or related field
- Communication skills; oral, written, and visual with adults and children
- Ability to model professional standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and to handle multiple tasks.
- Experience working in multi-cultural/lingual environment.
- Must meet federal and state health and safety standards and maintain credentials for childcare (1st Aid, CPR, Food Handler, CPS training, pass a TB test).
- Able to work flexible hours on occasion.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Respect for others? experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge.
- Access to a reliable source of transportation.
- WA state driver?s license and vehicle insurance.
