About this Opportunity
The David Owsley Museum of Art has a staff position available immediately. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations affecting visitor safety and the security of a university art collection. The position supervises 25-35 student workers and is responsible for scheduling, training, and monitoring 5-8 workers for 8 hours per day on weekdays (T-F) and 4 hours on weekends (Sat.). The person selected for this role must be willing to handle emergencies and be an effective liaison with University Police. Candidates possess strong customer service skills. The position also involves light office work, including correcting time sheets, collecting receipts, and ordering supplies.

Position Function

Minimum Education
Eighteen months of training or education beyond high school or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
At least one year of related experience.
Minimum Other
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; management of multiple priorities.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Associates degree or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
Three or more years of related experience.

The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) is an 87-year-old university art museum housing over 11,000 objects representing all seven continents. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, DOMA employs about 50 student assistants and interns per year. DOMA is a valuable research and teaching resource that balances global contemporary and historical art exhibitions with displays of a diverse permanent collection. Located in the Fine Arts Building, DOMA’s historic structure offers galleries, art storage, flexible classroom spaces, offices, and an educational environment that is free and open to the public, serving the East Central Indiana region.
