Job Summary: This position performs skilled mechanical maintenance, including inspections, repair, installation of equipment i.e. heating, ventilation, A/C and refrigeration system’s and perform preventative maintenance for the Champlain Valley School District.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Checks boilers, heating, ventilation, A/C and refrigeration for proper operation. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance such as filter changes, replacing belts and greasing bearings and motors on equipment such as gas/ oil boilers, air conditioners, heat pumps air handlers exhaust fans and compressors.
2. Trouble shoots DDC and pneumatic control systems, including but not limited to thermostats, relays, controllers, EP / PE switches, damper actuators and heat valves.
3. Performs repairs to the district HVAC equipment; purchases parts to repair or replace defective motors, pumps, compressors, electrical and other equipment to achieve minimal down time
4. Work with Building Facility Directors on all repairs and documents such repairs in the district PM program. Assists in gathering information for budgeting purposes for equipment replacement as needed.
5. Installs new heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment; ensures that the equipment operates correctly.
6. Responds to emergency calls as needed including non HVAC emergencies.
7. Performs Preventative Maintenance and documents in the districts PM Program.
8. Communicates with outside vendors on warranty issues and or other repairs. Communicates progress to the build directors/ managers.
9. Assist maintenance and grounds staff as needed.
10. Works with the DDC systems to manage and monitor building comfort levels, indoor air quality and energy efficiency. Communicates changes with the building directors/ managers.
11 Documents all repairs, system modifications and cost on the district PM program.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or GED Certificate
- Documented work experience in building maintenance
- 2 years documented HVACR maintenance and repair experience
- EPA Certification in Refrigeration Recovery
- Natural Gas Certification
- Type S C3 License
- Must have a valid VT driver’s License
- Must pass criminal back ground check
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read wire schematics.
- Must have basic electrical experience.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of Automated Building controls.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Microsoft spreadsheets and word doc’s.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
