Distribution Center Manager of Michelin Beyond Road, Channahon, IL:
We specialize in off-road product in the material handling, construction, agricultural and rubber tracks markets. Our high-performance products are specially designed for the unique mobility needs of the off-road vehicle market. Recognized by leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and distributed to the aftermarket industry through our regional distribution network. We are in Channahon, Illinois, a family-friendly town situated close to major interstates, with many outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking to enjoy.
Mission
The DC manager will lead a team of 4 supervisors and 40 distribution center associates for the biggest distribution center of Michelin North America Beyond Road distribution network. You will drive the DC operations and team performance by adopting Michelin’s pillars of People, Profit and Planet to grow and by empowering the team to accomplish tactical and critical initiatives including Safety, Service, Efficiency and Cost.
Key expected achievements
Leading and developing teams:
  • Build an environment that encourages empowerment, teamwork and autonomy
  • Guide the supervisor team to set objectives, aligned with the objectives of the site and the network
  • Ensure that the teams have the adequate and suitable resources to complete their activities
  • Manage priorities and staffing to guide the teams, balance the workload and achieve the goals
  • Develop and support direct reports' career plans and learning opportunities
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to team members
  • Apply company policies and procedures in leading team members
  • Facilitate change at the site level
Driving operations and performance through the supervisors:
  • Help associates understand the broader vision and guide the team towards results achievement
  • Ensure the operations are conducted properly, according to processes, standards (including safety and security), and customer requirements
  • Coordinate and optimize the means and solutions necessary to meet the objectives
  • Evaluate operations performance against service level agreement in place and ensures corrective action plans are in place
  • Coordinate actions with partners/customers to optimize the performance level
  • Identify the upcoming critical situations (in operations and in the business environment) to anticipate actions
  • Continuously seek to improve performance of operations, customer satisfaction and employee engagement
Representing the company with local authorities:
  • Ensures positive communication towards local community and environment
Preferred Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a team manager in a logistics or production environment, ideally warehousing with 10+ years of experience
  • Ability to adapt to and lead change
  • Warehouse Management System experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Business experience (budgeting, cost approach, customer centric)
  • College degree preferred
