ABOUT AUGUSTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE
Augusta Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is a two-year college located in Augusta, Georgia. Since its opening in 1961, Augusta Technical College remains dedicated to promoting the educational, economic, and community development in its service area (Burke, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie, and Richmond Counties). The college offers over 100 academic programs in high-demand areas such as Allied Health Sciences & Nursing, Business, Public & Professional Services, Cyber, Digital and Engineering Technologies accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The college also offers adult education/GED, ESL, and continuing education programs through the Division of Economic Development.

Salary: Commensurate with education and work experience (Salary Range $65,156- $71,222)
JOB SUMMARY
The Director is responsible for the administration, development and implementation of initiatives, supervision of employees, and management of the operating budget for an office/department/program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience, training and certifications in media or communications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years’ experience using a Learning Management System (LMS), teaching fully online courses, and developing content for online learning. Experience with tools within the LMS, such as Qwickly, SoftChalk, and Collaborate.
COMPETENCIES
Online teaching experience at the postsecondary level, aptitude for using and learning educational software applications, proficiency with data tracking, ability to plan for long term goals and maintain detailed records, self-direction, excellent human relations skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
MAJOR DUTIES
The overall focus of the Distance Education Director is to provide LMS administration and oversee the Distance Education office and staff.
1. Attends statewide distance education coordinator meetings through the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
2. Coordinates department efforts to maintain high accessibility rates in all courses.
3. Designs, implements, and follows through with a minimum of 3 projects per year to assess and evaluate, through data collection, Distance Education related procedures, practices, or services.

4. Provides distance education related data for college-wide grants, initiatives, and institutional and programmatic accreditation bodies.
5. Serves on the Distance Education Steering Council.
6. Works directly with the Instructional Design Specialist as a facilitator for maintaining quality of courses and content in the LMS.
7. Assists the Instructional Design Specialist with facilitating and maintaining Badge (online orientation for students) and entering student completion of Badge Training in students’ Banner records.
8. Supports the Instructional Design Specialist and Subject Matter Experts (instructors) to design and implement educationally and pedagogically sound courses as designated by the dean for accreditation initiatives.
9. Learns and stays updated on LMS functions and software available to Distance Ed faculty.
10. Updates the Distance Education manual regularly.
11. In coordination with the Instructional Design Specialist, maintains department budget.
12. Communicates with advisors about enrollment procedures.
13. Communicates regularly with faculty about all Distance Education functions, procedures, and LMS-related occurrences.
14. Communicates regularly with deans about the training of faculty and quality of instruction related to their academic school.
15. Serves as the liaison for eCampus, attends liaison meetings, coordinates courses offered through eCampus, provides training for eCampus instructors, coordinates TEAMS referrals for eCampus students, and provides a final check of grade entry for eCampus courses.
16. Other duties as assigned by supervisor, the Dean of Academic Affairs.
