Job Summary
This Director of Central Staffing Office is responsible for:
  • Promoting of clinical excellence and staffing of units congruent with the philosophy and goals of the department and missions and values of Boston Children’s Hospital.
  • Providing visionary leadership to individuals and interdisciplinary teams which serve to advantage patients and families.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership, management and physician colleagues to balance staffing needs with capacity demands, advance quality strategies, ensures a professional work environment, and enhances patient satisfaction.
  • The role requires the synthesis of expert clinical/management knowledge and practice responsibility to remain current in the disciplines of nursing and management.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and ensuring competencies of central staffing personnel throughout the program.
  • Develops and implements equitable criteria and processes for selection, evaluation, promotion and termination of all staff within designated area s of responsibility which meet system standards.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates strategic interdisciplinary programs which are consistent with the mission, values and goals of Children's Hospital.
  • Develops strategies, which, in a practical fashion, emphasize the cultural change necessary to fully realize our vision of participation in the continuum of care.
  • Interact and communicate with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and families in an effective manner. Exhibits tact, enthusiasm, patience and cultural sensitivity in all communications.
  • Complies with regulatory compliance with standards, laws and requirements of requisite agencies with appropriate systems/processes.
  • Determines, develops and evaluates, budgets, administrative strategies and information systems in support of clinical programs.
  • Leads individuals and work groups to continuously improve performance by creating an environment that ensures application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Creates environment, which fosters excellence, sensitivity and leadership.
  • Provides leadership for the development of and/or participation in studies, research, publications and public presentations. Maintains professional liaison with area schools and universities.
  • Responsibilities are 24/7 and may require onsite work during off hours including weekend and holidays to support the needs of the enterprise.
To qualify, you must have…
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of pediatric nursing leadership experience, inclusive of 24/7 responsibilities
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field
