The Director will report to the Chief Policy Officer, coordinate regularly with TRCP’s policy center directors and field staff, as well as partner organizations, and supervise the work of interns, fellows, and associates as appropriate. This position is based out of theTRCP’sWashington, D.C. office; candidates must be able to work in the office at least three days per week and may be required to travel two to three weeks total per year. An appreciation for hunting, angling, and outdoor recreation is required; experience doing so is preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and leading strategic legislative campaigns to support the TRCP’s priorities in Congress, including on the topics of public lands, climate, water, fisheries, and private lands.

• Building relationships and representing the TRCP in meetings with members of Congress and congressional staff, and other federal decisionmakers.

• Drafting blog content, letters, fact sheets, talking points, and other outreach materials.

• Conducting policy research and analysis of legislation moving through Congress, such as the Farm Bill, annual appropriations, and the Water Resources Development Act.

• Serving as the TRCP liaison to various partner-based coalitions.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in the legislative arena, including previous Hill, administration, campaign, and/or nonprofit experience.

• Extensive knowledge of the federal legislative process.

• The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with congressional staff.

• Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple priorities within a diverse legislative portfolio.

• Excellent communications, analytical, writing, and research skills.
