The Director of Compensation and Benefits will improve the overall health and well-being of our teams by developing, continuously monitoring, and improving a total-rewards strategy that drives talent acquisition and retention. This position will report to the Vice President of People Experience.
The proper candidate will be highly experienced and strategically minded, overseeing every element of the organization’s remuneration system, including salary, bonuses, paid/sick leave, welfare benefits, and retirement plans. This person will develop compensation and benefits strategies that drive growth, attract/retain talent, optimize the workforce, and drive productivity.
What You'll Do
- Benchmark current compensation and benefits against market trends and competitors
- Develop a remuneration and reward strategy considering the diversity of jobs in the organization as well as the organization’s growth expectations
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure coordination, advisement, and proactive consideration of issues related to compensation and benefits
- Manage role or job changes within teams/departments, promotions, job-scope changes, transfers, etc.
- Manage the annual salary review process in collaboration with department heads and ensure all relevant documentation is processed into the HRIS and payroll system
- Conduct audits and assessments of compensation and benefits programs to ensure market competitiveness, compliance, and consistency with total-rewards strategy
- Prepare and deliver presentations on compensation and benefits topics
- Coordinate development of benefits materials and manage the annual open-enrollment process
- Support the negotiation of coverage services and costs with carriers, brokers, and providers to ensure excellent service and competitive rates
- Ensure medical and ancillary renewals are competitive and drive well-being of team members
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for compensation and benefits program
- Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, facilitate proactive and effective messaging and cadence, and support the company’s growth and strategic plans
Education, Work Experience, and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s degree preferred)
- SHRM or HRCI designation preferred
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in compensation and benefits programs
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Willingness to submit to drug and background screenings
Expertise Needed
- Knowledge of benefit plan legislation (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, PPACA)
- Financial knowledge and ability to identify and implement cost-effective programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide effective guidance and leadership to diverse groups of individuals
- Self-motivation and a “can-do” attitude with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to take on an increasing level of responsibility
- Strategic thinking, tactical ability, and strong collaborative skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
