Under limited supervision, directs the clinical informatics department in the planning, development, testing, implementation and support of UMMS clinical information systems focusing on the electronic health record. Serves as liaison between UMMS clinical teams, leadership and technical departments. Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned informatics personnel. Manages resources and processes dedicated to clinical information systems including design and implementation of new systems.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in business, informatics, nursing or other clinical specialty, or related field required.
- Eight (8) years of clinical healthcare experience required.
- Four (4) years of progressive health care management experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing, directing departmental operations and management/supervisory personnel, evaluating, training and motivating performance. Ability to accomplish results through others.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and to establish clear guidelines for accountability. Ability to build consensus and provide strong leadership in a team environment, with the highest of professional and personal integrity.
- Knowledge of clinical processes from the perspective of multiple disciplines. Knowledge of clinical processes across the care continuum.
- Highly effective communication skills are necessary to work with Medical Staff, Board of Directors, Administration/Senior Management, hospital personnel, the media, and the community.
