GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Director of Behavioral Health will be responsible for providing clinical oversight and administrative support to CHC/SEK’s outpatient behavioral health programs. This position includes leadership in developing a strong clinical staff to ensure clinical excellence, compliance with all state and federal regulations, and a fully integrated model of service delivery. This position will work collaboratively with clinic and community based partners.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides positive impression, through words and tone, to patients, visitors, and employees presenting to the clinic areas.
  • Collaborates with leadership and operations staff to provide input into operational needs of outpatient behavioral health services.
  • Provides clinical oversight to outpatient behavioral health including chart review and evaluations, collaboration, and case consultation.
  • Demonstrate sound financial management, ensuring the effective and efficient use of organizational resources.
  • Formulate educational curriculum to enhance knowledge of clinical team.
  • Provides clinical supervision for those pursuing clinical advancement.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings amongst behavioral health and medical staff.
  • Oversees training of new staff and ensures existing staff have access to continuing education relevant to their field and developing modalities, medications and practices.
  • Assists in staff recruitment and retention.
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures in collaboration with VP of BH and ATS.
  • Conducts onsite staff visits throughout CHC/SEK service area.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Full licensure to practice independently in the state of Kansas as Licensed Mental Health Provider with no current disciplines/sanctions by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (BSRB)
  • Completion of 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferred.
  • Experience in program and organizational management, preferred.
  • Able to communicate with others to effectively convey information.
  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
  • Must be organized and able to manage/prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapts to change in a positive manner, able to work as a part of a team.
  • Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products and be proficient with the Electronic Health Record software.
  • Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
  • Provide customer service in accordance to the organization’s mission.
  • Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization’s policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Good lighting and comfortable temperature of ventilation at all times. The employee may occasionally be involved in or respond to high stress environments.
