Director, Clinic Operations

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Director, Clinic Operations in the Department of Student Health Services.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan, establish, and oversee the overall operation of the integrated Student Wellness clinic, ensuring appropriate and inclusive services are provided for a diverse student population through establishing protocols, processes, and a work environment that promotes the success of the clinic and employees.
  • Supervise clinic operations staff, including oversight of evaluation processes.
  • Serve as subject matter expert to staff for obtaining information or clarification about documentation standards, state and federal law and regulatory requirements relating to Health Information Maintenance (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA, etc.), and matters relating to private/public health insurance coverage, including school sponsored student health insurance plans.
  • Develop and/or implement policies and procedures to insure compliance with privacy and security regulations.
  • Appropriately manage departmental budget and secure grant funding to augment state appropriated budget when applicable.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Wellness Clinic staff, direct reports, and campus partners to promote clinic services and wellness education efforts.

Requirements: A master’s degree and experience in student services programs is required. A master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Education or a related field is preferred. Three (3) years of experience in a college or university health center setting and two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity is also preferred. Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association is recommended.

Student Services Manager II (CB80/61121658/ FTE-S00831P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 07. Salary range: $52,357.00 (minimum) to $74,613.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evenings and weekends will be required as needed. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.


Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree and experience in student services programs.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Education or related field. Three years of experience in working in a college or university health center setting including two years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

Licensure and/or Certification
Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association is recommended.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of clinic operations, medical record administration, medical terminology, diagnostic classification system and uses, and limitations of medical records; considerable knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local regulations governing records and reports of medical care, vital statistics and diseases, as well as Joint Commission Standards/AAAHC Standards for Ambulatory Health Care facility; Ability to analyze and evaluate medical records, data and information, and apply standards, regulations, and laws to specific operating problems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to prepare budget reports and track spending; ability to organize work, set priorities and follow through.
