Job Description

As the Director – Distributed Energy Resource Management in Arlington, VA - Hybrid / Remote you will have the chance to pursue and manage resilience as a service offering for North American Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs) and Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) for C&I and government clients (such as the Department of Defense and Department of Energy).


Working with other members of our team, you’ll work with clients and steer our delivery team(s) to assess current utility resilience, define future requirements, and implement resilience transformation programs while developing and implementing strategies for microgrid and DER integration to enhance energy resilience and reliability for utility clients.


During your time with us, lead the evolution of methodologies and approaches to drive asset and organizational resilience in power utilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in energy consulting, with a focus on microgrid and DER integration, energy assessments, and climate change risk mitigation.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale projects and teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in energy systems, renewable energy, microgrids and energy storage.
  • Deep functional expertise of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), DER Management Systems (DERMs), or comparable grid management systems.
  • Demonstrated track record of building a practice and the full cycle of business development and project delivery.
  • Experience organizing, building collateral for, and delivering workshops with in-person and remote stakeholders (including process improvement, value stream mapping, design thinking, business case canvas, road-mapping).
  • Experience working with public-private sector agencies and businesses on resilience topics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Environmental, Climate, Sustainability, Energy or Environmental Policy, Urban Planning or related fields
  • Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Experience in utility system operations
  • French language skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relevant professional certifications, including PMP, CEM, LEED AP, PE/EIT
