Position Summary:
The Associate I performs a variety of pantry and utility job tasks. This person is responsible for serving hot and cold food and maintaining proper portion control and set-up of all service areas in the dining room. This person will apply all safe food handling principles as they pertain to this position. Performs a variety of tasks required in keeping trays, dishes, silverware, cups, glasses, etc., clean, sanitary, and available for service.
This person will work with management and co-workers to instill and foster the value of the Villanova Mission Statement and the Dining Services Mission Statement. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set-up, maintain, clean, sanitize, and break down all service lines.
- Ability to prepare and/or cook food for dessert, pizza, salad, and/or deli bars according to production sheets and recipes.
- Ability to maintain food production and temperature logs.
- Adhere to safe food handling procedures.
- Assists in sandwich/salad/pizza/deli preparation and bag lunches as required.
- Cleans and sanitizes dining room tables and chairs after each meal.
- Serves customers in an efficient and courteous manner in accordance with our mission.
- Scrapes, cleans, sanitizes, and replenishes all dishes, trays, silverware, cups, glasses, salad bar pans, etc. Properly stores all clean pans in lowerators, racks, and/or on shelves.
- Operates dish machine and records proper temperatures. Loads and unloads dish machine.
- Disposes of food wastes and trash.
- Sweeps and mops floors and other tables or workstations.
- Performs other duties and assists with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/equivalent or 2+ years of food service experience required.
- Basic knowledge of food service safety and sanitation experience.
- Basic reading and writing skills, basic communication skills.
- Practices excellent personal hygiene habits: follows and adheres to uniform standards.
- Ability to: follow directions and complete assigned tasks, work with minimal supervision, and interact with people on a constant basis.
- Basic knowledge of operating kitchen equipment and their functions.
- Ability to: set- up, operate, break down, and clean, properly use knives, slicer, soft serve machine, and pizza ovens.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current ServSafe Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds independently and up to 30 pounds with assistance.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to extremes in temperature and cleaning chemicals.
