Summary:
Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul commercial, diesel, and various sized trucks and heavy equipment.

Requirements / Experience:
  • Must be legally capable of work for any employer in the USA.
  • Must be capable of reading, writing and communicating in English.
  • Must have a minimum 1 year Diesel / Service Mechanic experience.
  • Technical Institute Training would be favorable, but not required.
  • Combination of technical training and hands-on experience would be favorable.
  • Experience with electrical wiring would be favorable.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing.
  • Must be able to complete company computer-based training.
  • Computer diagnostic experience a plus but not mandatory.
  • Commercial trucks / DOT inspections understanding a plus but not mandatory.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  • A Class A CDL is favorable, but not required.
  • A TWIC card is preferred, but not required
  • High Pressure Jetting Equipment knowledge a plus.
  • High Velocity Industrial Vacuum Equipment knowledge a plus.
  • Must satisfy required pre-employment background check, DOT Medical Certification, drug and alcohol, and respiratory device tests.
  • Required to periodically satisfy DOT random drug, alcohol testing.
  • Required to wear common protective or safety equipment as needed. This may include Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Mask/Respirator and/or Hard Hats.
  • Work outdoors in various weather condition.
  • Must be flexible to work OT, weekends and holidays as needed.

Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostics, trouble shooting and put together repair plans.
  • Evaluate Performance of all drive train component work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, steering systems.
  • Install, adjust, or align brakes, and wheels and wheel components such as bearings and air brake and valve systems to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
  • Diagnose and repair air/electric brake and valve systems.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle body control systems including electronics, AC and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Use hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision instruments, as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks and hoists.
  • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Test drive non-CDL trucks and equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Rebuild gas, diesel, or DD-13 engines.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, or pressure gauges.
  • Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems, AC systems and other.
  • Align front ends and suspension systems.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors.
  • Install or repair accessories.
  • Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.
  • Repair or adjust seats, doors, or windows.
  • Adjust or repair computer-controlled exhaust emissions devices.
  • Measure vehicle emissions to determine whether they are within acceptable limits.
  • Maintain or repair vehicles with alternative fuel systems, including biodiesel, hybrid, or compressed natural gas vehicles.
  • Operate valve-grinding machines to grind and reset valves.
  • Document repairs and maintenance logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
  • Work indoor and outdoor in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to routinely lift, push, pull and carry 40-60 pounds and as much as 100 pounds.
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to prolonged standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and use of both hands and feet.
