Power Generator Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service, and maintain 1MW to 2MW diesel generators, heavy equipment and crew vehicles in accordance with federal regulations, equipment specifications and company policy
- Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Determine what machinery, tools, and parts are necessary to make repairs
- Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures
- Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment, and other vehicle repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe and efficient manner
- Travel required up to 75%
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience maintaining/servicing excavators and/or generators
- Must be able to lift 75# unassisted
- Mid-level diagnostic ability
- Ability to remove & replace major components such as axles, engines, and transmissions
- Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of standby generator systems 5 KW through 1500 KW
- Knowledge and ability to follow proper procedures for load bank testing
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose gas and diesel commercial engines
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics
- Works independently with minimal daily supervision
- Works in a safe manner at all times
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess a clean and valid Class A CDL
- Engine certifications a plus
- Toolkit
- Welding, hydraulic & electrical experience
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and execute emergency repair of AC/DC controls
- Jack of all trades
- Offshore experience - motor man, electrician
- Marine/ship mechanic experience
- Industrial HVAC Technician experience
- Military experience highly valued
The Location:
EarthGrid is headquartered in Richmond, California. We have an R&D facility located on Patterson Pass in Livermore, California and will be expanding our manufacturing capabilities in the East Bay area. The Bay Area is known for its mild weather, rich diversity of cultures, great universities, extensive transport systems and exciting activities. Relocation, however, is not required as much of the work will be elsewhere across the US.
