DevOps Engineer AVP – Enterprise Data Platforms

As a Barclays DevOps Engineer, you will be joining a small, highly technical team of software engineers that develop, deliver, and maintain a central enterprise streaming platform catering to multiple tenants. This team promotes usage of the platform by providing adequate technical support to all clients and provide visibility of platform operations with comprehensive documentation, monitoring, and reporting.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

• Collaborating with a team of peers to design, architect, engineer, and support a central enterprise platform that specializes in transporting and processing of streaming data
• Championing the automated operation of the platform by creating compelling features in the form of software pipelines, site resiliency, process automation, and quality documentation
• Providing support services in the form of incident investigation, recovery, and resolution to all clients of the platform
• Networking, attending town halls, and participating in events that raise the corporate equity of this role, its team, and the department
• Completing all minimally required tasks such as timesheets, corporate training, and any other administrative requirements pertaining to the role

What we’re looking for:

• Ability to breakdown complex problems using appropriate design patterns and best practices demonstrating a strong knowledge foundation and a sound approach to problem-solving
• Experience building automated pipelines that integrate and transport software through reliable, secure, and governed channels from conception to production
• Experience building a suite of real-time monitoring and automation software that encompass resilient and self-healing platform operations
• Able to conduct effective triage and remediation of production incidents with accompanying customer service and support for all clients of the platform

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Knowledge of data architectures (Lambda and Kappa) with experience in working with either
• Prior experience supporting central platforms having multiple tenants
• Building scalable platform operations in a Hybrid-Cloud environment
• Exposure to an inner-sourcing model to crowd source intellectual property
