Universe Technical Translation (“Universe”) established its headquarters in Houston, Texas, USA in 1981, adding global offices in London, Moscow and Baku. Universe provides translation services in over 200 languages and across multiple disciplines, it offers document translation, website localization, language classes, desktop publishing services as well as voice over and video subtitling among others. Both in-person and over-the-phone interpreters are available 24/7, whether consecutive or simultaneous interpreters. Universe is the largest provider of conference interpreting equipment rentals in Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Desktop Publishing Manager, you will be helping to recreate content to be used globally
• Work on designs for a diverse array of projects for print, digital, web, event collateral and signage, logos, infographics, etc. following existing brand guidelines
• Completing all projects within designated deadlines
• Passion for learning and staying on top of creative best practices, trends and software
• Prepares digital files for printers, clients and publications
• Proofs all work
• Works seamlessly with other designers to complete projects in a timely manner, including updating or modifying materials received from team members
• Works productively with minimal supervision; achieves work objectives in a timely manner
• Responds positively and productively to new initiatives or changes in priorities
• Ability to work efficiently and consistently on multiple projects under tight deadline conditions

Intermediate to advanced level proficiency (or higher)

• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• Microsoft Excel

Beginner proficiency (or higher)

• Adobe InDesign
• Adobe Acrobat
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• ABBYY FineReader (or other OCR software)

Bonus knowledge

• Articulate Storyline
• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Autodesk AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the US.
• Three to five years of graphic design experience, preferably in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Minimum Associate’s Degree
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and deliver quality work in an efficient manner
• Strong teamwork, time management and project management skills
• Demonstrated initiative
• Must be comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing objectives, ambiguous situations, and priority shifts
