Wadsworth Construction Company is currently seeking an accomplished professional to join our Team as a Design Engineer in Training to work within our Estimating and Alternative Delivery Departments. We are seeking someone with a background in Highway Design and Roadway modeling for large Heavy Civil highway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pursuit and execution of Alternative Delivery transportation projects, including:

o Assist the Estimating group in estimating key aspects of projects

o Review and interpret Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements and review design for compliance

o Assist in developing and analyzing preliminary design of technical concepts

o Collaborate with project managers and estimating teams to brainstorm strategy and approach and ensure decisions are compliant with the RFP

o Coordinate design deliverables from our design consultants and assist our Estimating Team in quantifying scope for various parts of the project

o Track RFP and addendum releases, and incorporate these requirements into our designs

o Assist the pursuit team with exhibits pulled from our Designs for use in Proposals

  • Assist in 3-D Delivery/BIM/MBDC elements of transportation projects, including:

o Review design models for completeness and accuracy

o Develop models for quantity takeoff and constructability analysis

o Develop and manage design and construction model standards and work-flows for data transfer efficiency

o Prepare various support graphics & exhibits for reports and meetings

o Perform basic/routine technical computer-aided drafting and designing (CADD) in accordance with CADD data standards

o Assists in assembling and cross-checking construction plans in order to provide an accurate and complete set of bidding documents

o Provide CAD drafting/modeling and takeoff support


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience is preferred
  • A desire to have a career related to 3D Delivery & estimating of infrastructure projects
  • An interest in digital technologies as they relate to infrastructure design and construction
  • 1-3 years of roadway design experience is preferred, including performing design of various aspects of transportation infrastructure such as highways, arterial streets, interchanges, MOT, walls, and structures
  • Proficiency in Heavy Civil design software preferred (OpenRoads, Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Center is a plus
  • Basic understanding of design and/or construction industries
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision and as a team player
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented, and strong time-management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
