The Dental Hygienist is a vital member of the dental clinic team and works with the providers and staff to deliver patient care in accordance with nationally accepted guidelines, policies and procedures to achieve the health center’s goals and objectives in delivering exceptional care to our patients.

The Dental Hygienist works with our pediatric and adult patients.

• Performs all phases of dental hygiene in accordance to the state board.
• Provides preventive clinical services (Prophylaxis of teeth, sealants, oral hygiene education, baby bottle tooth decay education, radiographs, topical fluoride applications, impressions, coronal polishing, amalgam polishing, etc.)
• Responsible for preparation and setting up of instruments (dating of all sterilized instruments, ultrasonic cleaning, sterilization of all appropriate instruments.)
• Provides Radiology Services: taking and developing of dental radiographs, oversees radiation safety program, responsibility for all dosimeter badges.
• Assists with patient education based on assessment of patient needs and clinic standards of dental hygiene care and documents in patient’s record.
• Assists to triage patients on-site and via telephone for appropriateness and timeliness of care per approved triage protocols and standing orders.
• Knowledge and compliance with established infection control guidelines and OSHA standards.
• Discusses cases with dentists and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
• Keeps operatories and working areas clean and stocked with appropriate equipment, dental supplies and patient forms.
• Complies with privacy information laws (HIPAA) and protects confidentially and integrity of health information.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
• Graduate of accredited dental hygiene program and valid Dental Hygiene License recognized in the State of Hawaii.
• Other requirements:

TB Clearance within the past 12 months
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on file or be approved for a reasonable accommodation for either religious or medical exemption.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year experience as a Dental Hygienist. This position reports to the Dental Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour
