Deli/Bakery Production - Neighborhood Market Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or as necessary

Essential Functions

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Receives and stocks merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers throughout the facility by maintaining the facility following company procedures; utilizing equipment; and completing required paperwork, logs, and other documentation. Maintains merchandise presentation by stocking and rotating merchandise; removing damaged or out-of-date goods; setting up, cleaning, and organizing product displays; signing and pricing merchandise appropriately; and securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise. Maintains area of responsibility by in accordance with company policies and procedures by properly handling claims and returns; zoning the area; arranging and organizing merchandise and supplies; identifying shrink and damages; and ensuring a safe work environment. Follows company and regulatory policies and procedures for preparing, handling, packaging, labeling, and storing food by operating and sanitizing food-related equipment; stocking and displaying food products; and maintaining and cleaning the department. Prepares merchandise based on daily production needs by operating department equipment; following preparation procedures and instructions; and following guidelines for wrapping, dating, labeling, and storing merchandise. Packages, labels, and prices food items by ensuring list of ingredients and sell-by dates are visible and accurate; and ensuring merchandise is properly measured, packaged, and stored. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. Completes work assignments and priorities in food production by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.

Inventory : Handles, moves, and displays goods in safe and correct ways. Tracks goods, maintains in-stock levels, and controls shrinkage in a timely manner. Reports poor inventory practices and low in-stock levels in assigned area. Uses inventory tools and equipment in safe and correct ways. Stocking/Receiving : Follows proper procedures to prevent theft and loss when stocking, receiving, maintaining, and securing goods. Receives, stages, and delivers goods to appropriate areas throughout the Facility in a timely manner. Reports complaints and problems with products, services, and conditions in the stocking/receiving area. Uses stocking/receiving supplies and equipment in safe and correct ways. Food : Handles, stores, cooks, and cleans food in safe and correct ways. Informs customers about food items when asked to do so. Prepares, takes, and fills orders for food items in a timely manner. Observes and reports complaints and problems with food products, services, and work areas. Uses food equipment and supplies in safe and correct ways, and cleans and logs them after each use. Physical Activities

The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position. Reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Moves up and down a ladder. Moves up and down stairs. Moves, lifts, carries, and places merchandise and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Communicates effectively in person or by using telecommunications equipment. Presents information to small or large groups and individuals. Reads information, often in small print. Safely operates large power equipment. Sits or stands for long periods of time. Squats, kneels, or crawls for extended periods of time. Visually inspects equipment. Visually locates merchandise and other objects. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Observes associate, customer/member, or supplier behavior.

Work Environment

Working in the following environment is necessary to perform one or more of the essential functions of this position. Works varying shifts as required. Moves through narrow, confined spaces such as stacks of merchandise or supplies, storage areas, and closets. Moves over sloping, uneven surfaces such as the parking lot, building perimeter, receiving bays, sections of the facility which have temporary cracks, or areas under repair. Moves over slippery surfaces in the work area as well as other areas that may become slippery during inclement weather. Works in areas requiring exposure to varying temperatures, extreme heat or cold, and/or wet, damp, or drafty conditions. Works overnight as required.
