Job Summary:
The Department of Biostatistics and Data Science (BDS), Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC is looking for an experienced database administrator. This position is responsible for helping our team successfully develop and deploy innovative applications for clinical research by supporting the core database architecture. In our environment, the relational database is critical to our ability to deliver fast, innovative tools in the clinical research space, with users around the globe depending on it daily. The database administrator position fills a critical role in our development and analysis teams. Working closely with the existing DBA team, programmers, statisticians and technical team, the successful candidate will:
- Manage the day-to-day monitoring of the SQL server environment
- Manage access control and user management
- Create databases, views, etc.
- Develop stored procedures and other scripts and functions
- Document standard operating procedures necessary to maintain the environment
- Monitor performance metrics to ensure the system is running optimally
- Install updates and maintain configuration and security of the system
- Support and collaborate with DevOPS and technical teams
- Provide education to teammates on best practices
- Review logs to identify processes that are operating sub-optimally and suggest/implement improvements
- Expand the environment to include resources such as replication
- Assist projects by developing automated procedures for generating test data that can be used to test new code
- Assist in the development of improvements to ETL and automation processes
- Assist in the development of views, and reports
- Experience working with cloud environments is desired but not required.

Minimum requirements:
- BS degree in a computer science discipline or relevant certification
- 5+ years' experience administering MS SQL Server, or other relational database environments
