The Porter must be a detail-oriented team player with a positive attitude who demonstrates flexibility and strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will have the ability to act and operate within a team setting to accomplish the Delta Storage business objectives.

Delta Storage currently has an opening for a Custodian/Porter at our Bayonne location. All the tools you need to accomplish your daily tasks are at your disposal to achieve excellence.

Under direction, performs routine maintenance and repair of the buildings, grounds equipment and furnishings on the grounds and inside the buildings in the storage facility, and any other properties that are part of the Delta organization and affiliates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs cleaning and maintenance to the grounds and buildings.
• Performs the less technical operations & repairs in a variety of areas such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and painting. Specific tasks include changing light bulbs and ballasts, replacing HVAC filters, replacing ceiling tiles, basic repairs of storage unit doors, gates, and any other items in the facility.
• Works outside to care for plants, flowers & shrubs.
• Works outside to clean the grounds of trash and debris daily.
• Shovels snow & operates snowplow & salting equipment.
• Operates company motor vehicles and skid steer in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assist customers in locating their storage units and showing units if needed.
• Handles machines & tools in a safe, efficient manner.
• Maintains work area in a clean & orderly manner.
• Follow the direction of supervisors.
• Assist other personnel when required.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:

• Has a basic understanding of HVAC, Electrical & Plumbing systems.
• Is skilled in the use of basic hand & power tools.
• Able to lift, transport, and work from ladders to 10 ft high on occasion.
• Possession of a valid NJ Driver’s License.
• Ability to read, write, speak & understand English fluently.
• Must dress in a neat, professional manner.

• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
• Continually required to talk or hear.
• Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
• Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
• The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision.

Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Golf cart, moving truck, Snowplow, Snow Cat, Floor scrubber, assorted hand tools, grinder, power drill, leaf blower, shovel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
