Starling Physicians is seeking a full-time CAT Scan Technologist.

This position will be for our new Wethersfield building, training will be held in New Britain.

Key Accountabilities

• Performs diagnostic radiography studies by following established protocols and selecting correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age and diagnosis to produce a technically excellent radiograph to assist the radiologist in the diagnosis.
• Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of radiation devices while adhering to radiation safety standards to comply with regulatory agencies and requirements so that patients and staff are protected.
• Participates in complex invasive x-ray procedures by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure and producing the x-ray to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services.
• Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedures to capture all charges and other relevant information.
• Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge of behaviors, to meet age-specific patient needs.
• Works effectively as a team member within the department as well as other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.
• Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining an understanding of policies, procedures and the clinical competency process to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures.
• Maintains continuing education credits.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)

• Certification as a CT Scan Technologists from an accredited program.
• Must have ARRT certification.
• Good computer and math skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Follow safety procedures as indicated in the departmental and organizational Emergency Action Plan.
• Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
• Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
• Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
• Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter.
• Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator.
• Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect.

Working Conditions, Physical Requirements

• Support function will occur within various clinical settings and work spaces.
• Incumbent may be required to work at any facility based on operation need, and schedule may vary.
• Travel may be required to various practice locations requiring the ability to drive, a valid driver’s license and use of own reliable transportation.
• Physical activity will include walking, standing, and sitting.
• Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs, or providing physical assistance to patients.
• Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.; and good manual dexterity.
