This position reports to the Correctional Food Service Manager at a medium custody male correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Providing supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers.

• Providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food production.
• Providing supervision of the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population.
• Planning, directing and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
• Providing accurate and timely record keeping.
• Utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meals.
• Conducting employee work appraisals.
• Work also includes: food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

The salary grade for this position is NC08 (Salary Range: $35,788 - $62,628). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Warren Correctional Institution:*
Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson, NC. It houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products, soap, and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, or two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications*: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
