Responsibilities and practice

The Birmingham office of Dentons Sirote is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Real Estate, Corporate, and Securities practice groups. The person hired for this position will work closely with our attorneys and other staff members to assume such responsibilities as:

  • Open new matters, enter conflicts checks, and draft engagement letters as necessary
  • Send out documents for signatures (including e-signatures), follow up and track receipt of signatures
  • Assemble transcripts of commercial real estate transactions
  • Arrange for special meetings and coordinate events, including arranging for space, meals, tech, etc.
  • Coordinate with marketing department on pitch pieces
  • Maintain tracker of team transactions completed
  • Submit expenses for attorneys
  • Digital (and occasionally physical) filing
  • Assist with billing matters as needed
  • Prepare routine correspondence, memoranda and legal documents including but not limited to pleadings notebooks, indexes, and exhibits
  • Must have the ability to master skills specific to the assigned practice group including such tasks as correspondence, spreadsheets, minutes, reports, and other documents

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with varying deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Experience in Corporate or Real Estate legal settings strongly preferred.
