Position Overview
The Controller is a critical part of the Finance Team, reporting to the CFO. The position is accountable for directing all aspects of the accounting department including but not limited to the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, ensure comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk and provide for the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. The Controller is expected to have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The role requires a high degree of accuracy, forward thinking and a strong ability to problem solve. The Controller is a hands-on contributor, leader, and partner to the business. Above all, this person is committed to living the company vision and values.
Essential Job Functions
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial statements across all business entities.- Manage and direct annual audit of company financial statements by an external audit firm.
- Ensure various sales and excise tax returns are prepared and filed timely and accurately.
- Develop, implement, review, and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise and provide leadership, support, training, and professional development to accounting staff.
- Research and maintain technical knowledge of accounting standards and implement changes as needed.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, increase throughput, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide value added services.
- Support CFO with special projects, reports, and process improvements by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial information as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.- CPA required.
- Minimum 7 years progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
- People and process management
- General ledger control and reconciliation
- Consolidation and multiple business unit accounting
- GAAP financial preparation and presentation
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Retail experience and experience with multiple operating entities and lines of business preferred.
