Lead over the Blood Bank section of the lab. Responsible for the prompt, efficient and accurate performance of all work within the Blood Bank. Collaborates with Laboratory Medical Director on Procedures. This position will be responsible for performing moderate to high complexity, specialized clinical laboratory tests; using manual or automated techniques to obtain data or use in the diagnosis of disease/condition. Responsible for Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Preventative Maintenance, Maintenance of supplies and patient testing within Blood Bank area of supervision. Competent with all age groups.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BLOOD BANK COORDINATOR

Bachelor's degree required

MT or MLS certificate required

3-5 years of Clinical Blood Bank experience required

Blood Bank supervision or management preferred.

Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs

Analytical and numerical skills: the ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Ability to write correspondence and reports

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
