COORDINATED ENTRY ASSESSOR
Supervised by: Housing Services Manager
Supervises: No Supervisory Responsibility
General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Housing Services Manager, performs a variety of telephone related assessments and other functions related to Coordinated Entry for the Housing Assessment Resource Agency’s (HARA) 10 counties (Alger, Baraga, Delta, Dickenson Houghton,Iron, Keweenaw, Marquette, Menominee, Schoolcraft).
Essential Job Functions:
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. The examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Responsibilities include answering and addressing the HARA’s Coordinated Entry Assessment phone line. The daily job function will be focused on the collection and entering client data to complete the Coordinated Entry Assessment.
- Responding to the coordinated entry assessment line in a timely, professional manner that welcomes customers to HARA while working with them as they begin to discuss their housing crisis with you.
- Required to maintain the HARA call log. Return calls in a timely manner or within one additional business day if absolutely necessary.
- Have a working knowledge of the assessment process when making in person assessments.
- Responsible for referring the client to the appropriate Housing Resource Specialist or appropriate agency within the community that the client is located in.
- Create and maintain a list of the available resources within each of the 10 counties served by the HARA.
- Have the understanding and knowledge to work with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
- Run specific reports requested by the Housing Services Director.
- Assist in client file reviews for compliance and audits.
- Actively participate in meetings to further the housing department’s goals and other programs within Community Action.
- Required training will include (but not limited to): Coordinated Entry, Assessment Program Training, HMIS Training, Fair Housing, Motivational Interviewing, Suicide Prevention and other training as assigned.
- Read and have an understanding of the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program manuals.
- Other job duties as assigned.

● Strong customer service skills.
● Knowledge of social service structures and programs.
● High School Diploma or equivalent.
● Skill in compiling information and data in order to prepare accurate reports.
● Skill in effectively communicating ideas and concepts both orally and in writing.
● Proficient computer and software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn other software.
● Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with clients, other agencies, service providers, the public, and other employees.
● Ability to travel to other locations.
