Job description
ASRC Federal Field Services provides logistical support at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in North Charleston (FLETC Federal Complex off Spruill Avenue). We are looking for Grill Workers/Cooks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff by reading and following standardized recipe and directions.
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions
  • Clean up station, then label and store leftover food
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef/Sous Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours
  • Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
  • Rotate food inventory as required by established procedures
  • Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
  • Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
  • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
  • Follow Safety Rules and Standards
  • Work schedule will vary but shifts will be weekdays and weekends ranging from 11-8pm. Some Holidays may be required.
  • 1 year or more cooking experience in a professional setting
  • Must have current Serv Safe Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to work quickly in a professional kitchen with the knowledge of how to read and mix for food service items, use commercial kitchen equipment, and check thermometer correctly and accurately
  • Ability to work in both cold and hot environments
  • Must be a US or Naturalized Citizen over age 18
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and pass a drug and physical exam.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industrial or manufacturing experience preferred
