Summary

The Controller position functions as accounting support to the CFO, managing the day to day accounting department, overseeing transactions for multiple companies, and providing financial reporting to their assigned companies. Critical to success in this role is the ability to problem solve.


This position is a full-time in-office role at our Lanham, Maryland headquarters location.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages client revenue and margin tracking.
  • Prepares company financial statements on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Oversees all accounting work and set up internal audit workpapers to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data and presents the information with reports and presentations to management.
  • Establishes internal work processes for accounting department, including billing, and monitors progress.
  • Documents workflows in a clear and detailed manner.
  • Manages the accounting department, providing training to new employees as needed.
  • Has a clear understanding of and adheres to current laws and regulations.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting for company and for parent organization as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior finance position required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Master's degree, CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Outstanding integrity, solid moral judgment, and the ability to make important decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other business software.
  • Strong leadership skills and business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long-standing business relationships.
  • Expertise in handling confidential and sensitive employee, customer, vendor, and company information.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on multiple deadline-oriented projects, adaptable to changing conditions and requirements. Must be able to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Strong customer-service and oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff and of management.
  • Expert problem solver, analytical thinker, and decision-maker.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills and demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.
