Job Description Summary

The Controller Belgium is a key role within the FBFA Controllership team, reporting to the FBFA Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for timely local statutory & tax filings, along with a smooth external audit process. You will provide local GAAP expertise to effectively close out accounting areas with the company’s auditors, as well as support internal functional teams with knowledge and understanding where needed with audit deliverables. The Controller will be responsible for tax compliance for their respective countries. This role will also include responsibility for overseeing the COE statutory teams supporting BeLux and for controllership oversight and Biz partnering within Belgium and Luxembourg.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Be the face of controllership to the tax authorities alongside tax and PWC, for external tax audits

• Prepare and present quarterly B/S reviews as part CFO FBFA risk reviews

• Handle all aspects of local GAAP technical matters, closing out efficiently with auditors

• Ensure statutory ledgers are maintained in compliance with tax and company legislation

• Manage the relationships with tax advisors to ensure proper application of efficient and effective tax processes, with regard to tax audit planning and proactive management of potential tax exposures/risks

• Owns and supervises of Luxembourg holding companies’s accounting and reporting.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Native Flemish speaker

• Near Fluent French with good knowledge of English as working language

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 4+ years post qualification relevant experience OR Master Degree (e.g. Business, Audit)

• Excellent local accounting/tax knowledge and ability to apply in a practical and pragmatic way

• Demonstrates proficiency in U.S. GAAP

• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written; able to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner to staff of all levels and backgrounds

• Self-starter, able to work under own direction and within teams.
