Summary

The Controller is responsible for the accounting and finance operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. While being responsible for Cash and Risk management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data

Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.

Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information

Maintains financial security by following internal controls

Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential

Transactions.

Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly

Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner while keeping the businesses best interest at heart.

Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed

Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

Maintain the chart of accounts

Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Ensure timely accrual and payment of sales taxes in multiple states

Reporting

Delivers a full business report to the company accounting firm while working hand in hand with the company CPA.

Issue timely and complete financial statements

Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report/audit

Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

Provide for a system of management cost reports

Provide financial analysis as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance

Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

Knows and understands State Labor Laws

Implements rules and codes of conduct for company employees to adhere to

Makes changes to company handbook as necessary

Cash flow forecasting and management

MUST KNOW QUICKBOOKS

Intermediate or expert proficiency using Microsoft Office products, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.

Demonstrates strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish cross function relationships.

Proven leadership and possession of problems solving skills.

Knowledge of computerized accounting systems to include word processing, spreadsheet software and integrated

Education and/or Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration

5 - 7 years of progressively responsible experience

Preferred experience at a Home Improvement or some sort of construction company

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
