Halff is looking for a
Construction Inspector in Tampa, FL.
General Description
:
This position is a Construction Inspector in the area of residential and commercial projects. Construction Inspectors conduct site visits, material inspection, observe construction activities and methods to ensure safety, quality and compliance with plans and specifications. They also establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers (company staff, contractors, counties, cities). Other activities include plan and constructability reviews and assist with development of policies and procedures within the construction services team. Also, strong communication and problem-solving skills are a must.
Position Requirements:
- 2 or more years of construction inspection experience in Florida
- Have an understanding of construction methods and practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexibility to travel to construction sites (mileage paid or company vehicle provided)
- Must be self-motivated and able to optimize their daily schedule and prioritize activities
- Requires a focus on safety, quality, integrity and accountability
- Valid Florida Driver's License required
The essential duties for this job include
:
- Reading and understanding plans, contract documents, and applicable standards and specifications
- Traveling to project sites for inspection of materials, safety, and compliance with the plans and other documents
- Verify the contractors work for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications
- Complete daily work reports: sketches, measurements and photographs
- Review materials testing reports to verify proper frequency
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspection and compliance
- Consult with Project Engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems
- Train and mentor less experienced inspectors
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers
