CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT – SANTA BARBARA/SANTA MARIA, CA

The Towbes Group, Inc., a general contractor in Santa Barbara, is preparing for new projects in our portfolio and we have an immediate opening for a Construction Project Accountant to join our team! You will be at the center of our construction accounting business, juggling a number of tasks on residential and commercial ground-up builds and tenant improvement projects.

Position Duties

• Responsible for construction project billing, job cost, subcontractor relations, and Compliance Management
• Record project costs in all modules of the Sage Accounting System (general ledger, job cost, project commitments, lien releases, subcontractor payments, accounts receivable, and accounts payable)
• Responsible for all aspects of certified payroll for prevailing wage jobs
• Tracking of preliminary notices
  • Assist in contract generation, change orders, project billing, and insurance administration
• Prepare monthly journal entries and job cost accruals
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and reconcile bank accounts
• Communicate and assist with handling legal issues such as mechanic liens
• Work closely with subcontractors

Education, Experience & Requirements

• SAGE 300: 3 years (Preferred)
• Construction Accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
• Ground-up construction accounting experience using Job Cost systems
• Knowledge of Construction Lien Laws
• Satisfactory references and background check, including a valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV record.

Hourly Pay Range: $28.94 to $43.41
