Job description
The South Portland School Department is seeking a dynamic Computer Science teacher to work with at South Portland Middle School, a new 5th-8th grade school which will open its doors for the first time in the Fall of 2023. The Computer Science teacher will primarily teach computer science classes to 7th and 8th graders, and will develop proficiency-based, hands-on, relevant units of study in alignment with technology learning standards. The position also includes teaching some sections of Digital Literacy, a course designed for our 5th and 6th grade students as they begin to create a digital footprint and learn to navigate the internet. The successful candidate will have experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse youth and their families.In addition, experience with PBIS, restorative justice practices, and MTSS preferred. Flexibility, desire, and the enthusiasm to open a brand new school as well as the excitement to work with middle schoolers required!
