The Opportunity:
The Community Outreach Manager, in conjunction with the Principal, is responsible for developing a healthy school community culture. This is accomplished by conducting outreach to the local community to determine how the school can best partner with the community to reach this goal. This position will be an essential part of establishing a foundation with community members that will help make the school meet the needs of students, families, and communities.
What You Will Do:
- Strategy Development:
- Conduct demographic and community analyses, including community member interviews to better understand the local community and provide insight into potential outreach strategy.
- Develop an outreach strategy for the school with the goal of learning more about local community needs and partnership opportunities, and helping community members learn about Aspire Gateway.
- Garner buy-in and support from Aspire leadership around the strategy.
- Develop timeline and set of activities needed to execute strategy.
- Outreach and Communications:
- Develop key messages and communication to communities about the school's mission.
- Manage external and internal communications and public relations as related to community outreach.
- Serve as point person for fielding and addressing community questions and concerns.
- Develop accessible mechanisms for community members to voice questions, concerns, and ideas for how the school can better serve them.
- Organize and coordinate community events that further the school’s outreach strategy.
- Identify opportunities for engaging and communicating with local community members.
- Support school teammates in identifying partnership needs and opportunities to support the outreach program.
- Ongoing Activities
- Support the development of student culture and student life in a strong “College for Certain” culture including school norms and rituals such as Town Halls, Winter and Spring Shows, Saturday Schools, and other events.
- Coordinate community activities related to students such as extracurricular activities and school student-sponsored events including fund-raisers and promotions.
- With the support of the Principal, set, implement, and enforce Aspire policies related to student participation in extracurricular activities.
- Oversee financial operations related to student life, including ensuring revenues and expenditures are properly accounted for, tracked, and communicated under the supervision of the Business Manager.
- Serve as a liaison between school and families in matters related to recruitment and enrollment, working with families in related activities, and supporting the Principal with student recruiting activities.
- Represent the school site, with support from the Principal, in building an effective school community including:
- Working with parents to better support their child/children’s academic, behavioral, and social development.
- Garnering support from community groups and leaders.
- Developing positive relationships with external partnerships.
- Work in collaboration with Principal and Home Office to achieve site and organizational goals.
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Manage:
- Supervise the site’s Parent Coordinator(s).
- Coach Parent Coordinator(s) to build relationships and collaborate with parents and community members.
- Responsible for full cycle management (i.e., hiring, coaching, performance management, etc.) of site-based Parent Coordinator(s).
What You Will Bring:
- Proven ability to craft effective communications and outreach strategy.
- Excellent communications skills and strong public speaking skills.
- Excellent research, relationship building and networking skills.
- Passionate about education and community development.
- Ability to use data to drive decision making, issue resolution, and strategy development.
- Knowledge around community organizing and outreach strategies and practices.
- Experience planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of the urban school communities preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field.

In addition to a competitive base salary that is benchmarked against local districts and charter schools, we offer employees exceptional benefits, including paid time off, 100% core health benefits coverage on select plans, life insurance/long-term disability, participation in a CA state retirement plan, tuition reimbursement plan, and adoption assistance program.
Our salary schedule based on years of experience for this position and ranges from $63,467-89,075.
