Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Health Rep.



We are seeking a community health worker to work on a research project that aims to test the efficacy of a WeChat-based smoking cessation intervention among Chinese immigrant smokers.

5-20 hours per week, flexible weekday and weekend hours

Job Responsibilities:

    • Conduct community outreach in Chinese American communities to recruit and enroll study participants
    • Use strong communication skills to maintain positive relationships with community partners
    • Collect data through in-person visits and phone calls
      • Work effectively within a team and maintain communication with team members
    • Maintain up-to-date study documentation (e.g., recruitment log and consent forms)
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned (e.g., data entry)

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma and minimum of 1 year related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual required English and Chinese
Associate degree
At least five years of experience working with Chinese American communities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability and willingness to plan, coordinate, and conduct fieldwork, such as community outreach activities and in-person data collection
Ability to maintain communications with study participants through telephone and WeChat
Ability to find community resources related to the research project
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive and professional demeanor
Experience/knowledge related to tobacco control research is desirable, but not necessary

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.02 - $27.47 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
