Job Title: Communications Instructor Adjunct – On-ground only from 6/5/2023 – 9/14/23

Reports To: Director of Education

DEFINITION:

Under immediate supervision of the Director of Education, the Communications Instructor –provides instruction to classes in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. This includes the delivery of student-centered, hands-on, active instruction in didactic and/or laboratory courses. The Communications Instructor is a adjunct employee of the Institute of Technology and may assume other assignments within the Institute.

The Communications Instructor must have a passion for teaching and assisting their team in developing exceptional educational methodologies.

SAMPLES OF DUTIES:

The information listed below is meant to serve as samples of job duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several types of duties performed:

  • Prepare lesson plans and teach course load per college/school/department policy and procedures
  • Assist with the review, revision, and create materials for use in instruction as part of the course load
  • Implement and adhere to an approved Master Course syllabus for each course taught
  • Evaluate the performance of students regarding course objectives and makes necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Maintain student grades in accordance with established policies. Prepare final grades at the end of each semester to update student records and transcripts.
  • Prepare and maintain classroom or/and lab facilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a Master's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education
  • A minimum of 15 credits in Communications/Speech
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Able to travel, as needed.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • An advanced degree in Physics or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work inside protected from the weather.
  • Work under pressure of constant deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Work effectively in a demanding environment.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Noise exposure under 65 decibels, roughly that of a normal conversation or a ringing telephone.
  • Schedule changes may occur based on business needs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
