Position Description

Provide communication and developmental Support to the Vice President of Foundation/ External Affairs. Duties include; managing daily operations and assisting with internal and external communications.

  • Provide support drafting and proofing editorial content for all internal and external communications
  • Provide assistance with social media, website content and updates, media and photo research, and press releases
  • Maintenance and development of media constituency lists through the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Assist with media interviews on various hospital and network sites
  • Manage and create social content calendar
  • Design flyers, graphics, evites and other marketing materials
  • Reporting of metrics
  • Work closely with Stony Brook Medicine's marketing public relations, internal communications and digital teams
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience working in an Agency or Corporation setting required.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Marketing or Journalism required. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to multi-task and take initiative. Excellent interpersonal skills, with an interest in being part of a committed team of professionals and interest in nonprofit organizations and health care policy. Strong administrative skills with knowledge of correspondence and document preparation. Excellent proofreading skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task. PC skills, including MS Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe, and Excel.
Physical Demands

Physical tasks will include walking, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting and bending (10-15 lbs). Written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to operate computer keyboard, telephone, camera and automobile required. Flexible working schedule, including some evening and weekend hours, required.
