Jack in the Box Inc. is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Architect who will be responsible for evaluating, identifying and delivering the Cloud Infrastructure Architecture and operational processes. Develop related standards and guidelines for the adoption, optimization, growth, management, and operation of scalable AWS infrastructure and Cloud business applications. Lead cross functional implementation teams.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the design and development of cloud-based applications infrastructure
Establish architectural standards that enable DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code, and automated continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
Translate organizational level business requirements and use cases into architectural capabilities verified to meet the requirements
Design solution-independent architecture models that map business services to cloud application stacks
Continuously manage, monitor, and update architecture models as business needs evolve and additional cloud services become available
Participate in optimizing solution, component, and application infrastructure architectures to manage costs and identify cost control mechanisms
Assist product owners, solution architects, and application architects in designing scalable, highly available, secure, cost-effective solutions that leverage cloud infrastructure services
Utilize cost/benefit models with mapping architecture to business outcomes and KPIs
Maintain technical vendor relationships and maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology
Participate in business case development and validation (for enterprise level business cloud projects)
Curate cloud infrastructure reference architecture documentation
Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed

Outcomes:
Well documented architectural patterns and processes to evaluate new services
Clear alignment with Project Management Office (PMO) and business strategies
Design high infrastructure quality architectures, and drives architecture activities that are aligned to organization requirements set by leadership on behalf of stakeholders and are consistent with enterprise architectural standards
Activities:
Participate in cross-functional teams that work to review architectural initiatives and improve application resilience
Collaborate with business owners, analysts, engineers, development teams, and infrastructure services to define, establish, and communicate application and data architecture standards, policies, and directions
Define High-Level Cloud Architecture
Define process for evaluating and approving new cloud-based services (ie: Amazon Web Services AWS, Microsoft Azure)
Define Cloud infrastructure Reference Architectures for common solution archetypes
Deliverables:
Defined architectures for CPE products and services
Defined architectures for supported Cloud Reference Architectures
Updated demand management processes
New service and pattern approval processes
Integration model with Enterprise Architecture capability
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience. Certified Solutions Architect Professional and Certified DevOps Engineer Professional highly desired.
Experience: 5+ year of IT architect experience, with at least 3 years in AWS Cloud Architecture demonstrating hands-on deployment and operation of AWS based solutions. 3+ years experience in software development/coding in .NET, .NET Framework, .NET Core and related technologies.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining business application on AWS stack, leveraging services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, MSK, SQS, Lambdas, AWS Step functions, Redshift, Tableau, AWS Glue, AWS Directory Service, RDS and Aurora and leveraging third party support structure
Experience in building and maintaining products and shared libraries in Terraform. Experience in TFE/Hashicorp Sentinel.
Experience in building and maintaining complex path to production pipelines including fan-in-fan-out, Blue/Green and Canary deploys on well known CICD platforms such as Jenkins, CircleCI, GitlabCI, GoCD etc.
Good understanding of AWS Cost explorer and experience optimizing infrastructure cost on AWS
Experience with compliance standards such as ISO-27000 family, CCM, PCI-DSS and experienced in leveraging industry standard security tools
Hands-on experience in building, provisioning, deploying, testing and monitoring enterprise grade software
Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure in support of third-party integration software such as Dell Boomi or equivalent experience
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF
Integration of cloud services with on premise technologies
Experience in leveraging Observability tools such as Splunk/Datadog/New Relic or equivalent
Experience in industry standard tools providing Edge services such as Cloudflare/Cloudfront/Akamai etc.
Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell)
Configuration management using CloudFormation
Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC), CI/CD pipeline, agile/iterative and agile/scrum methodologies
Hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience with an AWS Cloud focus
Experience with networking principles and technologies (DNS, Load Balancers, Reverse Proxies, VPNs, BGP)
Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
Willingness to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant in a highly complex environment
Ability to mentor and lead training for internal platform and capability teams focused on Cloud Infrastructure and CICD.cloud team

The range for this position is $123,600 - $172,200 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
