SMX is looking for a full-time Cloud DevOps Engineer to work for a large federal customer.
This position is fully remote but restricted to candidates living in the Southeast US. As the Cloud DevOps Engineer, you should expect travel up to 4 weeks per year with bulk of travel to Vicksburg, MS.
The Cloud DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building and operating Cloud infrastructure, working with developers to automate deployment and release processes, and working with operations staff to ensure systems are reliable and secure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide configuration and management in Azure and AWS Cloud environments
- Provide architecture and integration support for hybrid (On-prem/Cloud) projects
- Support and maintain automated builds and deployments for applications
- Manage and serve as SME for DevOps tools
- Provision cloud resources for customer projects and assist with build out
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain Secret
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university with relevant coursework
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree
- 5+ years of experience in an Infrastructure Operations-centric role
- 3 years of experience in cloud engineering/administration (AWS or Azure)
- 3 years' experience working with Container platforms such as Docker
- Strong command of CI/CD tools (Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, Jenkins, AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodePipeline, Azure Pipelines, etc.)
- Strong command of tools and processes for container deployment and management (packaging and image management, CI/CD, schedulers and orchestration, IaC, monitoring and management).
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes including EKS, ECS, ACI, AKS, and Docker containers fundamentals
- Experience in AWS, Azure, or other major cloud platform technology
- Experience with software project management tools such as JIRA, Gitlab, and Confluence
- The ability to communicate effectively with other technologists and business stakeholders
- Possession of or ability to obtain CompTia Security+ or CISSP certification (within the first 6 months of employment)
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Active US government secret clearance
- Experience securing applications relative to DOD STIG
- Experience with smartcard or other 2 factor authentication models
- Experience with Azure Repos, Pipelines and Artifacts
