GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Program Director, provides professional supportive services, advocacy, and prevention services. Services include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, individual and group support, advocacy, education and supportive services, after hour crisis response team, and criminal justice support to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and their children when the children’s advocate is unavailable. Also provides residential and non-residential children’s services. The scope of violence includes domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or counseling required or at least 5 years experience working in a domestic violence program.

2. Previous experience and training preferred on the dynamics of intimate partner violence and its effect on children.

3. Previous experience and training in the provision of supportive services, crisis intervention, and group dynamics.

4. Previous work experience in a 24-hour residential setting preferred.

5. Knowledge and aptitude in computer use.

6. Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

7. Must be committed to the concept of empowering child and adult victims and be able to relate to individuals of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

8. Ability to establish effective working relationships with crime victims, law enforcement, prosecutors and other community agencies and members.

9. On-call responsibilities to provide immediate response to victims of crime. Flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

DUTIES:

1. Assists with greeting incoming patrons and clients, including crisis intervention and safety planning

2. Assists with telephone coverage during scheduled shelter hours and as available during non-shelter hours, including delivering messages, scheduling appointments, crisis call intervention, safety planning and referrals.

3. Provides individual supportive services and advocacy sessions for non-residential, transitional supportive housing and residential clients and their children when the children’s advocate is unavailable.

4. Develops, records and implements client service plans which focuses on goal-oriented empowerment; strengths-based supportive services and advocacy which offers empathy, support, advocacy and education on the dynamics of intimate partner violence for residential and non-residential clients.

5. Coordinates and facilitates educational support group activities for victims and their children.

6. Provides advocacy on behalf of victims including, but not limited to, emergency legal advocacy to obtain personal protection orders, no-contact orders, and other emergency protective orders, housing, medical and transportation advocacy.

7. Coordinates child activities/care during parent’s supportive services/advocacy sessions or other activities as requested.

8. Plans parenting education and skill building strategies.

9. Completes initial assessment and prepares client case intake file. Records progress notes and units of service.

10. Participates as a member of after-hours crisis response team/staff on-call rotation.

11. Provides reports, statistics and documentation required by granting sources and agency data collection systems.

12. Provides community awareness/education presentations.

13. Performs public speaking regarding SafeCenter services and domestic/sexual violence

14. Participates on community workgroups as assigned.

15. Participates on agency committee.

16. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $22.33 per hour
