MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
This position requires a wide range of clinical skills including interviewing, individual and group counseling and a thorough knowledge of the substance abuse, mental health and human service system resources. The Outpatient Clinician is responsible for the assessment and treatment of clients that have substance use disorder as well as co-occurring mental health issues requiring specialized skills. The Outpatient Clinician functions as part of the Multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for ongoing treatment planning as a Qualified Health Professional. The Outpatient Clinician is on the Quality Assurance team and is responsible for the review of client records to meet regulatory, billing and utilization review compliance.
- Provide individual assessment/counseling, including crisis intervention with clients who express suicidal or homicidal ideation, and/or other mental health crises.
- Provide specialized group counseling services related to a wide range of clinical and community issues for clients presenting with substance use disorder and co-occurring needs.
- Maintain a caseload of clients, with a focus on clients who are reintegrating back into the community from a residential treatment setting.
- Maintain appropriate case records, statistical reports and prepares other reports as required.
- Function as an integral member of the treatment team and participate in case conferences, team meetings, in-service workshops, as a Qualified Health Professional
- Participate in efforts to monitor the quality and effectiveness of ongoing clinical services as a Qualified Health Professional.
- Serve as a liaison/advocate with community agencies and organizations in assisting with concrete services/resources/referrals.
- May provide supervision of master’s level interns (MSW, MHC) from area schools.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- A Masters Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy required.
- New York State Certification (LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, CASAC) required.
- 1-2 years’ experience in the Substance Abuse Field required.
- Field supervision training for the supervision of social work interns (SIFI) preferred and the ability to provide appropriate clinical supervision to chemical dependence and mental health professionals highly preferred.
- Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record and Outlook programs.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule. This position will include both on-site and off-site service provision.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English desired but not required.
