Description
The Director of Clinical Operations for the division of Surgical Services reports to the Vice President of Surgical Services and is responsible for the coordination of the Surgical Patient Care delivery process and Surgeon Customer Service initiatives across the division.
- The Director of Clinical Operations will be responsible to analyze and evaluate current work flow processes within Surgical Services; will partner with clinical and administrative leaders to identify, prioritize, implement, and monitor recommended process changes for improved efficiencies and outcomes. Will manager portions of nursing, operations practice and staff, based on evolving department structure and clinical alignment.
- Will lead or participate in special projects as requested by the VP.
- Will serve on Surgical Services and other hospital committees as needed or assigned by the VP.
Other Principle Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership and tactical guidance to guarantee high performance of day-to-day operations in surgical services with a focus on patient safety.
- Develops and enforces policies and procedures as well as the management of clinical leadership staff.
- Work collaboratively with executive leadership and manages key initiatives in a collaborative, but productive environment.
- Participate in strategic and long-range planning for each department/specialty, aligns goals with the TGH strategic plan.
- Works collaboratively with the anesthesiologist running the board to facilitate the efficient throughput of surgical procedures at all surgical sites within TGH.
- Provides clinical and administrative support to team members.
- Deploys resources as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Provides oversight of scheduling processes for surgical services; ensures the orderly and efficient delivery of services; management of equipment and supplies and vendor compliance.
- Active participant in the Value Analysis process.
- Ensures compliance with applicable legal and accreditation standards.
- Ensures employee conformance to established practices.
- Monitors efficiency of operations to include first case on time starts, turnover time, operating room utilization and managing physician block schedules.
- Ensures everyone is doing their job to optimize throughput and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Healthcare.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration or a related field with a minimum of eight (8) years of professional, progressive healthcare leadership in Surgical Services, with a focus on process improvement, staff management, relationship development with perioperative colleagues and supervisory experience.
- Florida Licensed RN.
- Must have strong analytical skills and be results-driven.
- Ability to communicate clearly and directly with other team members is essential.
