PHYSICAL LOCATION:

Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Clinical Manager is responsible for providing a broad range of services to persons served at Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute. The Clinical Manager should hold a license in one of the following disciplines: PT, SP, OT, TR, Neuropsychology, Counseling or Social Work. The Clinical Manager serves as a leader of the interdisciplinary treatment team and s/he is responsible for providing clinical support, managing the training of the clinical team, and ensuring that the most recent evidenced based practices are utilized. The Clinical Manager will also provide treatment in her/his specified discipline, as needed.

(1) effectively initiates change, adapts to necessary changes from old methods when they are no longer practical, and identifies new methods that promote performance improvement.

(2) evaluates clinical teams performance; identifies strengths and development needs; provides timely constructive feedback and takes appropriate and timely action with marginal or unsatisfactory performers

(3) consistently and fairly enforces policies and procedures

(4) effectively accomplishes work assignments through proper delegation, establishes challenging goals for program quality, efficiency, and professional development of the clinical team.

(5) Ensures continuity of program processes and procedures with routine communication between Galveston and Lubbock facilities.

(6) effectively manages expenses by operating within an established budget

(7) Responsible for overseeing annual equipment inspections and addressing equipment needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains therapists work schedules- full time and PRN- to ensure quality treatment will be delivered to Moody Neuro patients.

  • Monitors that productivity of all therapists is at 75%minimum (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, Counseling, and Therapeutic Recreation.)

  • Ensures that patient charts comply with regulatory standards through routine auditing which focuses on identifying deficiencies and addressing them in a timely manner.

  • Manages and oversees student intern program.

  • Monitors and updates the schedule to ensure that all therapists are scheduling accurately for 6 hours of therapy daily

  • Follows up with staff when they are not meeting productivity expectations.

  • Assists with relevant training for new clinical staff.

  • Follows up with staff competencies, annually, and as needed.

  • Coordinates in-service / educational seminars with clinical staff.

  • Demonstrates positive peer leadership by action and influence.

  • Redirects staff who are displaying poor work behaviors and attitudes and ensures that policies and procedures are being followed.

  • Communicates all issues related to patients and staff directly to Program Director.

  • Oversees clinical stafftrainingwith residential staff and facilitates the proper utilization of residential staff in treatment program.

  • Approves timecards and paid time off requests for clinical staff.

  • Assumes the role of acting Program Director in his / her absence.

  • Any other duties assigned by the Program Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to set up and follow an appropriate treatment plan to meet the needs of individual patients.

  • Ability to communicate diagnostic results, treatment plans, and recommendations through both written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to relate well to individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to generate creative therapy tasks addressing patients areas of deficit.

  • Demonstrate NCI abilities and knowledge by successfully passing course, maintain refresher courses as determined by NCI committee as well as implementing the knowledge with patients as needed.

  • Maintain CPR certification by successfully passing course and refresher courses as needed per policy.

  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.

  • Ability to work independently in a professional manner.

  • General knowledge of computers.

Education:

Dependent upon license of therapist in Clinical Manager role.

Experience:

Prefer one year's experience with adults with brain injuries.

    • Acuity, near - clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
    • Depth perception - three-dimensional vision. The ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are they actually are.
    • Field of vision - the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while the eyes are fixed on a given point.
    • Accommodation - adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye.
    • Color vision - the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
