The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time cleaner position. Under the supervision of a Supervising Housekeeper, a cleaner performs a variety of manual tasks requiring physical efforts in cleaning an assigned area/areas on a full-time basis. Areas to be covered are as such: Offices, public assembly areas, patient care areas, halls, foyers, etc. The successful candidate must be able to work weekends and holidays, should be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, stand, bend, and stretch for long periods of time and perform medium to heavy manual labor. Working knowledge of various cleaning substances and ability to use various cleaning equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will perform a variety of routine manual work under the supervision of the Supervising Housekeeper. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Picking up and removing waste and placing them in appropriate places.
• Using mops, brooms, brushes, buffers, scrubbers, and other cleaning equipment that washes the floors, corridors, stairs, and stairwells, walls, windows, etc.
• Using manual and/or mechanical equipment to strip, vacuum, shampoo carpets, and wax floors.
• Using dusting equipment to dust assigned areas.
• Using equipment such as ladders to wash and dust high places like ceilings.
• May have to work in laboratories and other hospital areas where high degree of cleanliness is required to minimize the possible spread of infection.

RFMH employees may be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 depending on work location and must provide proof of vaccination. Individuals that are not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) or more weeks since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
