Community of Grace, a Presbyterian Church is a mid-size church in Arvada, CO. The congregations of Arvada Presbyterian Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church have merged to form a larger mid-size combined church. We are seeking a high-energy and upbeat individual to fill the role of Membership Coordinator for the new merged congregation. We also seek a vibrant and compassionate person who models Christian values. This is a faith community where every person is welcome and accepted. The position requires versatility to communicate to all age groups and in multiple of technological ways (snail mail to social media - in person to virtual). The position is part time, expected to be 8 to 12 hours per week. This is NOT a remote position. Salary is commensurate with experience. Potential for additional hours as merged organizaion progresses. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with initial preference for applications received by May 18th.

Position Overview and Primary Responsibilities:

The Church Membership Coordinator shall work collaboratively with other staff in carrying out a variety of responsibilities to welcome and connect visitors and members for Community of Grace. Primary job responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the church database and membership rolls.
  • Support the Worship and the Fellowship committees, such as to help coordinate volunteers for activities and events.
  • Coordinate with the Clerk of Session to electronically submit the annual PCUSA statistical report.
  • Support the Deacons Prayer Chain ministry.

Duties and Other Responsibilities:

1. Membership:

  • Work with other staff and lay leaders to formulate a means of welcoming new members.
  • Receive prayer requests from the congregation, and ensure the prayer list is regularly updated for the bulletin and/or communicated to the prayer chain as appropriate. Additionally work with Deacons and other staff to ensure outreach, ministering, and/or pastoral care is occurring as appropriate.
  • Support the Clerk of Session for all statistical reporting as needed.

2. Office and Volunteer Coordination

  • Ensure volunteers are trained to answer phones and to provide hospitality in the church building. Additionally support this ministry directly when working in the building and coordinate with the Church Administrator to maximize in-person office coverage during the week.
  • Work with the Church Administrator to maintain supplies in the church office and to back each other up for time-critical responsibilities when needed.
  • Work with the Communications Coordinator and volunteers to print and fold bulletins on a regular weekly schedule and at other times as needed.

3. Worship Committee Support

  • Order flowers according to the flower dedication chart.
  • Support and equip volunteers to provide hospitality on Sunday mornings.

4. Other:

  • Attend staff and other meetings as directed by the Pastor/Head of Staff.
  • Complete other duties as needed.

Qualification Guidelines:

1. Experience with church management databases. (We use Power Church.)

2. Experience working with volunteers.

3. Detail oriented with strong administration skills.

4. Strong work ethic with can-do attitude.

5. Approachable and possess excellent relational skills.

6. Tactful communication skills—able to respond with empathy for those sharing prayer concerns, while also getting clarity on what may be printed in the bulletin versus shared in confidence with the prayer chain. Willing to seek guidance from the Pastor (and potentially Session) when in doubt and while gaining experience in the role.

7. Able to concisely summarize prayer requests for the bulletin, and to hold private requests in confidence—i.e., not disseminating more broadly than appropriate based on the request.

8. Proactive attitude and temperament.

9. Able to operate office equipment such as copy machines, folding machines, etc.

Professional Development and Support:

The Church Membership Coordinator is encouraged to seek out continuing education and training opportunities as appropriate, such as to stay up to date with software tools relevant to the position in consultation with the pastor and annual goals. They will meet regularly with the church staff team, and will both provide support to and be supported by the Pastor and the Personnel Committee.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
